Department of Marathi has been established in 1963. From 1963 under graduate department has been started and Post graduate department has been started from 1993. The department has 01 fulltime faculties and 02 contributory faculty. The department has done two memorandum of understanding. One of this is with Shivaji Vidyapeeth Marathi Shikshak Sangh, Kolhapur and another with Charuta Sagar Pratishtan, Kavathe Mahakal. In the year 2022-23, student strength is nearly 327. Faculties of department has attended 30 seminars including conferences. In the departmental library, there is 179 books with periodicals.

The department has run Ceritificate courses named “Gramin Patrakarita aani Jansanvad Pramanpatra Abhyaskram” (Rural Journalism and Mass Communication) from last 05 years. Another Course also run by the department named “Marathi Sahitya Parichy” from last 02 years. Two faculties of the department are M.Phil. One is Ph.D. guide during 2022-23. There are 03 students are Ph.D. awarded and 04 students are doing this degree also. One student is completed M.Phil. degree. 01 students are NET qualified. 01 student is university ranker.
